New requirements for TAE Trainers and Assessors

The Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015 clearly state that if you train a qualification, you must hold the same qualification.  

Moreover the TAE Training Package states that in order to asses the core components of the new TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment you must hold either:

Be able to demonstrate equivalence of competencies.

This course focuses on the administrative aspects of training–a valuable qualification for principals and admin staff of a training organisation.

The units of competency in the TAE50216 suit the hands-on vocational professional, actively designing nationally recognised training programs. The focus is on “designing the training” and not on “delivering training”.

Training Designers, Training Managers, Training Program Assessors and Quality Control, Curriculum Developers, Registered Training Organisation Principals, Corporate Training Executives and Management Staff responsible for the design, development and evaluation of Government Training will benefit from undertaking this course.

  • There are no prerequisite to study individual units of the Diploma of Training Design and Development.

    This is a good, practical unit to start on that is the first step in all program development.

    A good design unit that will provide a framework for a lot of your facilitation and assessment practices at the advanced level.

  4. TAEDES505 Evaluate a training program
  5. TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools

 

Elective Units For the Diploma of Training Design and Development

Choose five electives from the list below.  You have the option of choosing two of the five electives from another currently endorsed training package, for example the BSB (Business Services Training Package).

Otherwise just choose five from the ones listed below.

As you can see the electives are arranged in fields of study.  Choose from those fields that apply to your workplace activities.

We recommend that you study your electives in this order.

  • Design (we suggest this because design is the frame work.  This is the first step on which you build your training program).
  • Delivery and facilitation.  This is the logical and most practical step.
  • Assessment.  In reality it is sort of the last thing you do in the scope of training.  So it makes sense that this should be the last thing you study.

Of course, we don’t mind if you change the order to suit your needs.  But invariably you will find that we are right 🙂
